ABOUT

The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized body of the United Nations responsible for international public health. Established in 1948, WHO works to promote health, seek for keeping the world safe, set international health standards and provide guidance on critical medical and ethical issues. WHO plays a crucial role in forming policies that impact healthcare systems, disease prevention, and medical ethics in the whole world.
One of the most debated ethical and legal issues in today’s medicine sector is the legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicide. As medical improvements extend life expectancy, the right to end a life with an individual's will has become a controversial topic of discussion. This agenda item aims to examine the ethical, legal and medical impacts of euthanasia and assisted suicide, to have discussions upon their potential effects on public health and human rights. By evaluating diverse perspectives and international frameworks, in the second edition of MUNDERES delegates will seek for achieving essential dialogue and guide policy decisions on this agenda item.
